St. Barnabas Purgatorial Society

On the First Sunday of every month at the 11:00am Mass in the Main Church the Mass is offered for those enrolled in the St. Barnabas Purgatorial Society. All members are remembered in this monthly Mass which is an enrollment for a period of one year.

Baptismal Instruction

Parents wishing to have their children baptized at Saint Barnabas must attend one of the classes that are held normally on the first and third Monday of each month, unless otherwise stated, prior to arranging the child’s baptism.  The classes are held in the Elementary School Library at 8:00pm. No registration necessary.

Baptisms take place every Sunday at 1:00pm in the Main Church.

Getting Married !

Please be aware that couples planning a marriage should make an appointment to see a priest at least six (6) months prior to the wedding. This is especially important for those who will be married outside the United States. The regulations, both civil and religious, are sometimes complicated and demanding. There is very little the local priest can do if papers and documents are not gathered in time to satisfy the requirements of the other country.

All couples, whether the wedding will take place here or in another jurisdiction, must attend the Pre-Cana classes.  Recently dated copies of Baptism must be obtained as well as Communion and Confirmation records.

One last note: it is generally best to call a designated priest for an appointment concerning these matters rather than to just drop in. In that way, you will be assured that the priest will be able to give the time required to explain the various factors involved.

Our Parish Today - Countdown to 100 Years as a Community of Faith

The same vibrant spirit that was present nearly one hundred years ago continues at our Parish today. St. Barnabas is a thriving community with approximately 3,000 registered families and more than 350 children receiving C. C. D. religious education. Additionally, St. Barnabas Elementary School boasts 600 students while the High School educates 300 students.

As we count down to our Centennial Anniversary of St. Barnabas Parish in 2010 and celebrate the Bicentennial Anniversary of the Archdiocese of New York on April 8, 2008, let us keep in mind the importance of our Parish and the larger Catholic community, while looking forward to preparing, repairing and beautifying Our Parish.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

A, as its first of letters, every speech maintains;  The "Primal deity" is First through all the World's domain.

Meaning: As all letters have the letter A for their first, so the World has the eternal God for its first.
