                              Baptism of the lord

                           January 13 2008

Dear Parishioners,

I understand that the downtown Bicentennial Campaign Office, in some cases, has been inconsistent in sending you reminders to send in your scheduled pledge payments.

If you feel you are overdue for a reminder you are more than welcome to send it in at this time to the rectory. It is only with your help that we can pay off the much applauded renovation and improvement work we are accomplishing in the parish.

Thank you for your continued support.

                                    Msgr. Barry

Next weekend we will welcome the Little Sisters of the Poor who will speak briefly at all the Masses.

CCD Happenings: Mrs. O’Hara’s sixth grade class performed a very nice Christmas pageant based on the joyful mysteries. This pageant was a great way of catechizing children on the connections of Christmas to catholic prayer life.

Parish Personalities: Mrs Theresa Heid will be remaining with our CCD program as a third grade catechist; however, she will be resigning her administrative responsibilities in order to spend more time furthering her educational credentials. We thank Theresa for her industriousness in our program and her great love for the religious education of our children.

Communion Breakfast for Catholic teachers in Public Schools is February 2nd, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Riverview in Hastings. Please call Kathleen Alonzo at 212 371-1000 ext 2864 for reservations.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is January 18-25. The following prayer is offered for your personal use.

Lord we have glorified you for the grace you have

given us in the ecumenical movement.

In the joy of being called to serve you in the one search for Christian unity, we acknowledge the work of the Holy Spirit and the admirable diversity of the gifts and talents of the Spirit destined to be shared.

We commit ourselves to persevere in constant prayer for Christian unity, and through Concrete gestures of reconciliation, to seek to bring forth perfect unity in your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
